Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk Box Office Predictions

Christopher Nolan’s latest film is coming to theaters in a few weeks. Just like his previous big budget movies, Dunkirk Box Office Predictions are showing good numbers ahead of its release date next month. Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk is one of the most anticipated movies this year. In a new experience, Nolan is directing a World War II Drama movie starring Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance, Cillian Murphy, and Harry Styles. The movie tells the story of the evacuation of Dunkirk, France (Dunkerque), between May 26 and June 04, 1940, during Battle of France in World War II.

Dunkirk is the shortest film by Christopher Nolan with just 107 minutes since his feature length film debut “Following” in 1998 with 69 minutes. The movie is set to be released in theaters on July 21, 2017. But it will receive special 35mm and 70mm screenings in equipped theaters on July 19, 2017 two days before the nationwide.

Alongside Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and Quentin Tarantino, Christopher Nolan is one the modern filmmakers and directors who can create a big buzz around his films and attract attention to any project he is involved in. His previous movies, Inception, The Dark Knight Trilogy and Interstellar are globally popular and also must play major role in attracting more attention to Dunkirk.

A World War II Film with a PG-13 Rating.

Christopher Nolan said that the movie is different than any other war film, It’s less a war movie than a survival drifted by the suspense”, as Nolan said himself, and got a PG-13 rating. With its rating, Dunkirk could manage to attract younger viewers, and especially with the pop star Harry Styles being among the cast. Opposed to an R rating for Hacksaw Ridge and Saving Private Ryan, which still holds the record for the highest grossing World War II film in domestic history with $216.5 Million. And the highest worldwide gross for a World War II film with $481 Million. But Dunkirk Box Office Predictions show that the movie could easily reach more than $500 Million globally and also could gross more than $220 Million domestically.

Social Buzz vs. Critics’ Reviews.

Dunkirk is still getting buzz on social media which started months before the release date, following Harry Styles being part of the cast. Activity on Facebook and Twitter is highly strong compared to Interstellar ($188 Million domestically, $675 Million globally). Most of the blockbuster movies scheduled for this summer are generally sequels of remakes, but Nolan’s is totally different with over 100 minutes of high resolution IMAX footage which plays in favor of Dunkirk box office predictions.

Critics may also affect the box office numbers with their reviews. Any movie could easily be a big miss just like King Arthur: Legend of The Sword which only reached $15 .3 Million in the opening weekend with a $175 Million production budget, following the critics’ bad reviews. In another case Wonder Woman beat all its previous box office predictions which only estimated a $65 Million opening weekend for the movie, but it managed to gross more than $103 Million in its first three days following the critical acclaim.
